In short
Bagua is an I Ching app made by LD Coda, LLC. It has no account, collects nothing about you and sends nothing anywhere. Your questions and readings stay on your phone.
What the app keeps on your phone
- Your journal: the question, date, hexagrams and changing lines of each cast, how it was cast, and any notes and ratings you add.
- Your settings: the theme, the reading text size, the casting method for instant casts, and whether you've seen the welcome guide.
- Your birth year, only if you enter it on the Five Phases screen.
These live in the app's own storage on your phone (the journal is kept twice there, so it survives the web view's data being cleared). Deleting the app deletes them, and Clear all readings in Settings deletes the journal. Android's own device backup may include app data, depending on your phone's backup settings.
What leaves your phone
Nothing, unless you choose to send it. Bagua makes no network requests: no analytics, no crash reports, no ads, no account and no sync.
Share reading and Back up readings open your phone's share sheet, and Copy puts text on your clipboard; where it goes next is up to you. Restore readings reads only the text you paste or the file you pick. The email address and website under About in Settings open your mail app or browser only when you tap them.
Permissions
Bagua asks for no permissions. Its Android build declares one permission that Android grants at install without asking: internet access (android.permission.INTERNET), which Capacitor, the framework Bagua is built with, includes in its Android apps. Bagua's code never uses it.
The build also defines a private permission that Android's support library (AndroidX) uses to keep the app's own internal messages private. It gives no access to your data.
Third parties
None. The app contains no analytics, advertising, crash-reporting or payment libraries; we checked the 2.0.0 Android build. When you buy Bagua, Google Play or the App Store handles the purchase under its own privacy policy.
This website
bagua.ldcoda.com loads no analytics, ads or third-party scripts and sets no cookies. It keeps one setting in your browser, your light or dark choice (bagua-theme). The contact form sends what you type to Formspree, which delivers it to us by email.
Children
Bagua collects no personal information from anyone, including children.
